I'm guessing Dick was a big Elton John fan. Probably had an 8-track in his VW Beetle where he'd listen to Honkey Cat over and over until the tape wouldn't go forward or backwards and ended up being thrown out the window on the freeway. Eventually a day prisoner found it while doing trash pick up, they stuffed it down their pants to take home where they did a few tricks with a screw driver and pencil and soon it was back working just fine. That same tape today is sitting in a toxic garbage dump in Bangladesh buried beneath old tvs and computers. Oh, and Dick no longer wears glasses. He never needed them. It was just the Elton thing to do.
i think he was battling with his sexuality, using the elton john get-up as a way to tell himself "its ok", there are others. But this makes me think of him in his underwear....and his body hair? now im uncomfortable. Maybe he would be too if he thought of me in my underwear. Im not being nasty.
