Nicholas is a kind of embodiment, or personification, if you will, of the very Platonic ideal of cuteness. You could also call him the incarnation of adorableness. I think that Roland Barthes would agree with me that Nicholas projects preciousness, not merely as a theme, but as an unconscious unifying principle, establishing an adorable narrative context for all existing social power relations.
Nicholas looks *exactly* like a child of the same name who lived next door to me when I was a kid and who would have been about 3 years old in 1990. He died in a car accident in 2004. I hope this isn't the same kid because, well, I don't want to bum anyone out.

I'd be smiling too, with a sled full of prezzies!
What he said.
Bonus points for the Barthes reference.
As it turns out, Nicholas had an allergic reaction to poinsettias and was rushed to the hospital.

Simon Birtch is in town again!
Reminds me of the little kid from Nightmare On Elm Street(Wes Cravens New Nightmare 1994).
