This photograph should be titled "When worlds collide."
On the left: Barbara, on the left, carries a Benji-look-alike dog, and co-ordinates handsomely with B's salt-and-pepper coat-complexion, and does a "subdued" Cyndi Lauper sthtick.
On the right: Miss Jane, pert, pink, and holding a inanimate creature, cradled in her arms; whose head, the more I stare at it, resembles that 7-foot creature from another planet on the "Twilight Episode" titled, "To Serve Man."
Barbara is frumpish and hints at a career on "MTV."
Jane is perky on the outside, but spends her late night hours watching early 60s re-runs, and darkly reads of the "Donner Party" during study hall in Mr Cutherbotson's home room.
Also, Barbara's parents were probably older (maybe she was raised by her grandmother?) when they had her, hence the name "Barbara" for a girl born in the 80's. Also hence her style. And the old people dog.
I think they're very cute. Probably best friends. Shared dreams as they hit puberty and their worlds changed. Let's hope they're still best friends and happy.
No one told Jane that her stuffed animal wasn't a real dog. Barbara (whose dog was real) was the only kid on the block that didn't make fun of her. She learned at an early age that dumb blondes are to be pitied and not persecuted.

That dog is long dead.

That picture looks like it was taken in 1983 or 84. 1991, really?
