Ha ha ha why does he have a vacuum cleaner? Is it some racist joke that he's going to end up as domestic staff?

GO DIEGO!, GO!.... no really

Anonymous said...

Is he supposed to be a vacuuming super hero of some sort?

Anonymous said...

in spain vacuums must be considered futuristic. i'm not sure what that says about spain.

BlondeSoul said...

Oh my Lord! What in the holy hell were his parents thinking?!?
An obsession with vacuumes can't be healthy....

alyssa said...

it's one thing to wear a costume in a portrait. its another to vaccum in a portrait. but WHY IS HE DOING BOTH?! whats wrong with this poor child's parents?!!

Kasey Ruadh said...

I nearly wet myself when I saw this. It made my day, nay my life.

my coworker's son absolutely LOVES to vacuum. they bought him toy vacuums all his life and for christmas this year, they bought him a dyson. so, this picture is of a kid who a) loves to vacuum or b) is never told 'no'.... "mommy, i want to wear THIS and i want to take my VACUUM..and i want, i want..."

That vacuum cleaner sucked all the joy out of that photo.

Anonymous said...

I have looked and looked at this picture. My brain can not come up with an explanation as to what is going on? Perhaps some foreign super hero popular in he late 80's, but why the vac?

Anonymous said...

Priceless!

Anonymous said...

People, people......Diego isn't really a little boy from Spain, he's an alien from the planet Gordania....and that is no vacuum cleaner, it's vaporizer weapon!!!

AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Run for the hills!!!!

Anonymous said...

OMG. Vacuums are bad-ass when you're a five year old boy: loud and powerful. Plus they're futuristic looking, like rockets. And thus the connection with his costume. Makes complete sense!

Suzanne said...

Twice I have been at a loss for words due to an amazing portrait posted on here. This is one of those times.

"WTF" was the original thought; followed by "Holy Shite!" Everything else has pretty much been covered.

Diego rocks. Or should I say sucks? I am confused now.

stanis said...

Space is a vacuum, it doesn't need vacuuming...

But if it does call Diego, he seems to have the market cornered.

vicki said...

I’m now thinking either strange child or strange parents ....... but I’m also thinking bet this child is a loner and will he grow up to be a serial killer who’s trademark involves a vacuum ....... just glad I don’t live in Spain

Pittorgan said...

I totally approve of costumes in portraits + props like vacuum cleaners. Much better than that hack Anne Geddes

Well, this is an smart mommy. She found a way to have her son vaccuuming the house and being happy about it.

The boy has a particularly imbecile grin on his face, he must have gotten that expression from some relative. It makes me wonder if the tactic also works with his daddy.

The Eger Family said...

I'm trying to comprehend this picture...perhaps the parents were trying to be ironic. A super old vacuum with what would be considered a futuristic costume. What does this tell us about Diego? Or maybe it just tells us his two passions: sci-fi and vacuuming. Whatever it may be, it is still AWESOME! :D My favorite picture ever! I hope it wins for 2009!

Anonymous said...

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! This picture epitomizes "WTF?"

Mr. Eding said...

Completely outstanding.

Poor Reginald, dethroned by a 5 year old surrealist with a vacuum cleaner.

Damn, my pics will NEVER beat that. Most Awesome. I wish I was a vacumming Superhero when I was growing up. Instead... I just blew up Barbies, that's not original.

this is my first time seeing this blog and I am overwhelmed by this! This looks like something I would have done as a kid, worn my special costume and my super-cool space device that everyone else thinks looks like a vaccum cleaner but they just don't understand. Diego, hope you stayed awesome!
